THE ARBOR

The Arbor is conceptual a mixed-use micro-community located in Bloomington, Indiana. The mission is to create a community within a community, helping to reverse the negative effects of the suburbs. This space helps an urban community transition from being dependent consumers to becoming responsible producers.

The Arbor is a place to live, eat, and learn. By utilizing the original College Mall site plan, The Arbor helps to activate previously unclaimed land. The overall plan includes housing to own or rent, a community garden producing food that connects people back to the land they live on, a modern cafeteria-style restaurant, a purposefully small learning community with a primary and secondary school, and shared educational spaces. The intention of The Arbor is to act as a model for future urban lifestyle developments.
